PNM feel privileged to have been commissioned to build and install a 2.2l Lotus Engine for Vanwall's first production car.

Vanwall was founded in the early 1950’s in West London to win the World Championship and be the first British car to take on and beat the famous Italian racing teams. In 1958 Vanwall competed with three drivers, Stirling Moss (wins in Holland, Portugal and Morocco) Tony Brooks (wins in Belgium, Germany and Italy), and Stuart Lewis-Evans.

That year they became the team to win the inaugural F1 Constructors Championship. The Vanwall name is forever on the first F1 World Constructors Championship Cup.

To recreate exactly the 1958 championship car would mean a cost approaching £1 Million. At Vanwall we have now started to make a limited edition of eight cars, all bearing the famous name in large lettering on the bonnet and also the number of the competing car that won a Grand Prix for Vanwall during the 1957 and 1958 seasons. We have been able to re-create the car at a significantly lower cost by selecting a period Lotus 2.2 litre 4 cylinder engine and transmission (or others) as well as more modern components underneath.


The aluminium bodywork is handcrafted and formed in the same manner as the original Vanwall bodies were made in the late 1950’s. It is also dimensionally the same and painted in the exact colour of the original racing cars. The cars take several thousand hours to build, each one is a ‘labour of love’.


The car looks visually very near to the original car but underneath utilizes more modern components. A unique feature of the car is that the lights and wings of the car can be easily fitted making the car road legal so that maximum benefit can be had by the owner as to where they can enjoy the driving experience of one of the most famous cars in the history of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
